THOMCO is searching for a Software Developer with diverse skills and talents. This is a fantastic opportunity for an up and coming individual to take their technical skills to a whole new level. This individual will be employed in the Information Technology Department reporting to the Lead Software Developer. This individual will be primarily responsible for design and development of rating tools on various system platforms.
This individual must be able to handle multiple projects in a timely fashion, should be goal oriented, and should work well in fast changing environments. The individual should be able to adhere to timelines with minimal supervision. This individual must have a track record of strong creative problem solving and working well with others. Commercial P&C insurance experience is a plus.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Participate in the design of new software features and products.
•Design and develop user interfaces.
•Develop and test high quality web-based applications and enhancements that meet user requirements and follow design standards using various languages as appropriate.
•Coordinate activities with Lead Software developer to ensure completion within project parameters and timelines
•May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements :

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Understanding of data structures, databases, and object-orientation
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
• Desire to learn data driven applications
• Advance knowledge and experience in Java, SQL, and XSL
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
• Willing to learn new methodologies and engage in the development of new ones
• Enjoy working in high-energy dynamic environment
• Positive team player that is interested in technology and learning new skills
• Above average keyboarding/typing skills (>40 wpm).
DESIRED SKILLS CONSIDERED A PLUS
• Flash Development using the Flex Language
• Microsoft Visio (For graphical programming of rating system)
• Adobe LiveCycle
• Experience in the commercial property and casualty insurance industry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2 or more years of experience working on web-based applications.

Review and underwrite new business accounts, as well as ensure the retention of profitable accounts in compliance with company underwriting guidelines. Provide prompt and quality customer service and complete any other duties or projects assigned.
• Manage new and renewal workload as assigned
• Review file information for renewal action. This
includes reviewing applications for acceptable
operations per company guidelines and analyzing
loss data.

• Determine appropriate renewal action such as non-
renewal or conditional renewal if appropriate.
• Rate all renewals according to company guidelines
• Quote all renewal 45 days in advance of the
expiration date
• Follow up on all quotes at least five days before
the expiration date.
• Process Binders and Endorsements for accounts
assigned
• Follow up on any outstanding items that are needed
to complete the underwriting file.
• Handle all service calls from agents within
territory assigned. This includes but is not
limited to COI, account eligibility and payment
questions
• Assist other team members as required.

Requirements :
|
Must have strong computer skills, good oral and written communication skills; must be a team player who can handle multi-tasking.
High school diploma required; minimum 3 year's experience in insurance, including Commmercial Auto and Workers' Comp. |
